The questions dentists ask.

Direct answers on branding, marketing, and why the market chooses one practice over another.

Why do patients choose one dentist over another?

Patients cannot judge clinical quality before or after treatment, so they judge everything else: the parking, the phone manner, whether the website looks current, whether the front desk knew their name. Dentistry is a credence good, which means the non-clinical signals are the only evidence a patient has of clinical quality. The practice that manages those signals is the one that gets chosen.

Do dentists need branding, or just marketing?

Marketing amplifies whatever signal already exists. If the underlying position is undefined, more marketing simply distributes an interchangeable message more widely, at greater cost. Branding done properly is not a logo. It is the position a practice occupies in a patient's mind relative to every alternative in the radius. Fix the position first, and then marketing has something true to amplify.

Why isn't my dental marketing working?

Most cases where marketing does not work are positioning problems in a marketing costume. If patients arrive comparing you on price, the issue is not reach. It is that the market has classified your practice as interchangeable. More advertising on an undefined position produces a more expensive version of the same result. The fix is to correct the classification, not to buy more traffic.

How do premium dental practices get patients who do not shop on price?

Price shopping is a symptom of missing positioning. When a practice is clearly the only sensible choice for a specific kind of patient or case, price becomes contextual rather than comparative. Premium practices build that clarity on purpose: a defined position, evidence a patient can read from outside the chair, and a message repeated in the same words at every touchpoint. The sale happens before the sale.

What is dental positioning?

Positioning is the place a practice occupies in a patient's mind relative to every other option nearby. It is not the logo, the tagline, or the website. Those are expressions of a position. Positioning answers a harder question: for which patient, and which kind of work, is this practice the obvious choice? A practice that can be described six ways is not remembered as any of them.

How is PROPHY different from a dental marketing agency?

A marketing agency executes: ads, posts, websites. PROPHY corrects the thing those tactics run on. Through Authority Architecture, which runs Audit, Architect, Build, Activate, and Sustain, PROPHY fixes how the market classifies a practice, then rebuilds every touchpoint to say what is already true in the chair. Agencies amplify the signal. PROPHY defines it. The build itself is delivered through OCIDM.

How much does dental branding and marketing cost with PROPHY?

PROPHY is a sequenced engagement entered one phase at a time. The Authority Audit is $3,500 CAD, with $2,000 crediting toward the Practice Blueprint. The Practice Blueprint is $9,500 ($7,500 net when moving forward from the Audit within 45 days). The Full Authority Build, delivered through OCIDM, runs $35,000 to $50,000. Activate is $3,500 a month. Every figure is in Canadian dollars.

What areas does PROPHY serve?

PROPHY works with dental practices across Ontario, from the Greater Toronto Area and the Golden Horseshoe to Ottawa, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor, Kingston, Barrie, Sudbury, and every city in between. The diagnostic includes close to two days on-site with the practice.

The market is deciding right now.
